The Great Escape Accessibility Information.

The Red Roaster

  • There are two sets of double doors to enter the venue, these are slightly heavy. There is a small ramp to the entrance.
  • Tables & chairs are grouped quite closely together with little passing space between.
  • No induction loop/ infrared, no accessible directional signage, no texturing, no lowered counters.
  • Accessible toilet, which is kept unlocked (not RADAR), and is also used by staff. Slightly small toilet, with little space for wheelchair turning.
  • There is no ‘stage’ as such, so disabled artists can perform in any suitable spot.
  • Nearest bus stop 100 metres, no disabled bays nearby.

The Prince Albert

  • Two uneven stone steps to usual entrance, with large lip at door. However there is an alternative, level entrance to the side, opened on request.
  • No lowered bars, induction loop, or accessible directional signage.
  • Gents toilet is on ground level, is not adapted but has reasonably wide doorway. Ladies is up a steep flight of wooden stairs.
  • There is no backstage area, and the stage is approx 1 foot high.

Pressure Point

  • Ramped access to ground floor.
  • All toilets are either upstairs or downstairs, so not accessible. Upstairs is reached via stone spiral staircase, which is also the min fire exit so disabled customers cannot be carried up & down.
  • No adaptations for customers with sensory disabilities.

Audio

  • Ramped access to ground floor of venue, with double doors to enter.
  • Accessible toilet on ground floor, key is kept behind bar.
  • No adaptations for customers with sensory disabilities.
  • Manager assures that the in-house door team are very helpful, flexible and willing to assist with getting wheelchairs down the two flights of stairs to the basement part of the venue. Very happy to guide customers with sensory disabilities.
  • The downstairs stage is a flexible riser stage, with two steps up to it, so access could be difficult. There is a very tiny backstage area.
  • On the ground level, the DJ booth is accessible.

The Brighton Centre

  • Level access to entrance. All levels and areas accessible via lifts.
  • Limited designated wheelchair seating in various sections of main arena.
  • Several accessible toilets.
  • Viewing platform available for standing events.
  • Paid parking available approximately 500 metres from venue, no disabled parking bays outside.
  • Induction loop in some arenas depending on event.

Pavilion Theatre

  • Double door access to foyer, with a platform lift to bar.
  • There is a lift from the bar, to be used under supervision to the auditorium.
  • There are two steps leading to the stage, but the stage layout can be flexible and the stage can be removed completely.
  • The venue would like to know in advance if disabled performers are attending.  There is lift access to the dressing rooms downstairs, however there is no accessible toilet in the backstage dressing-room area.  There is a small area off stage which can be utilised as an extra dressing-room.
  • There is an accessible public toilet with a RADAR key.
  • There are designated wheelchair spaces at the front of tiered seating.
  • There is no viewing platform

Hector's House

  • One small step at entrance, with narrow entrance door.
  • There is a fixed stage which is approximately 8 inches high.
  • 'Accessible' toilet is located downstairs, accessed via 15 very steep wooden steps with handrails to each side – no lift.  Designated disabled toilet in ladies and gentleman's toilets downstairs, both of which are no bigger than a standard cubicle but have grab rails.
  • No lowered section of bar.
  • DJ booth is accessed via approximately 5 steep ladder type steps.

The Corn Exchange

  • Level access to main hall, and for the Great Escape the layout will be standing room only, with a stage.
  • The Corn Exchange stage is rather high, but there is a portable wheelchair lift available.
  • There are designated wheelchair spaces at the front of the tiered seating, normal practice is to remove two seats per one wheelchair and to provide one seat for a personal assistant.
  • Two sets of double doors lead into the foyer, where there is an accessible toilet.
  • There is a lowered counter in the bar and the cloakroom, all three Dome venues have lowered bar counters except the upstairs auditorium bar.
  • Induction loop in auditorium.
  • The box office has no induction loop or lowered counters.

The Hope

  • One step to enter the venue, with two steps in to one side of the bar.
  • No lowered bar section.
  • Six wooden steps to ladies toilets, with entrants partially blocked by slot machine.  Very narrow steps and door to toilet, which has no adapted cubicle. Four steps with hand rails on both sides to gents toilets, which also has no adapted cubicle.
  • There is no lowered bar section.
  • Customer Care Kit is available behind the bar.   
  • Approximately 20 steps to upstairs area, which also has no lowered bar section.
  • Ladies and gents toilets upstairs, no adapted cubicles.

  • Three sets of double doors to level access entrance, with the majority of the venue on the ground floor.  Two sets of 20 to 30 steps to upstairs areas.
  • No accessible toilet, however staff may be able to assist with lifting disabled patrons upstairs to a more spacious toilet in the function area if there is no function being held.
  • Ladies and gentlemen's toilets are both accessed via approximately 7 steps, with hand rail on one side.
  • No parking outside venue.
  • No adaptations for those with sensory disabilities

The Komedia

  • Public lift access to upstairs and downstairs areas.
  • Lowered bar sections throughout the venue.
  • Wheelchairs can be accommodated at the front of the tiered seating sections, to be arranged with prior notice.
  • Some directional signage for the visually impaired.
  • Three steps up to back of stage, however it is possible to arrange ramp access to both the upstairs and downstairs stages.
  • Accessible toilets (kept unlocked).
  • Upstairs accessible toilet is shared with artists dressing room, so beware as there are two doors opening into the one adapted cubicle.  Level access to part of upstairs dressing-room, the rest is accessed via steps.
  • Infra-red hearing system upstairs & in theatre.

The Gloucester

  • Ramp access to entrance of club.
  • Several of sets of two steps around the ground floor of the club, other than that level access to the main area and bar .
  • No lowered bar section.
  • No accessible toilets as such, although there are both ladies and gents toilets on the ground floor.  There are also toilets downstairs, accessed via approximately 15 to 20 steps with a handrail to one side.
  • No adaptations for those with sensory disabilities. 
  • No parking outside venue, nearest disabled parking bay approximately 200 yards.

Sumo

  • Three small steps to enter venue.
  • Ground floor bar area with  low sofas and bar stools.
  • Very low corner stage in a ground floor area.  No toilet on this level.
  • Downstairs club and dance floor area is accessed via 13 winding but shallow metal stairs, with handrails. 
  • Downstairs DJ booth with level access.
  • Both ladies and gents toilets are situated in the downstairs area, once downstairs there is level access to these toilets, however there are no adapted cubicles and the doorways are standard width.
